Praxis
The name praxis is the root word for practice in the Greek language. Not only is praxis a word that is not common in our normal day to day language, it also points to a deeper meaning. The engagement of therapy is a practice, a routine activity that is mean to enhance a skill and/ or ability. Over time, the process will discover behaviors, thought patterns, and beliefs that have be practiced over time that may be creting some of the challanges we face. Therapy is a process of discovery, inquiry, and practice of new behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs.
Many of us have encountered traumatic events that have shaped how we view ourselves, others, and the world. Without skillful practice, these beliefs can form our behaviors toward ourselves and others. Practicing a 'new way of being' takes dedication and commitment.
